Prosecutor General Justice (Retired) Uz. Abbas Shareef arrived in Beijing, China, today upon the invitation of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China.
The Prosecutor General and the delegation were received at the airport by Deputy Prosecutor General of China Mr. Shi Weizhong.
During the visit, Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef will meet with Prosecutor General of China Mr. Ying Yong. The two Prosecutors Generals will sign the Agreement on Cooperation between the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Maldives.
The Prosecutor General will also meet with Chief Prosecutor Mr. Zhu Yaping of the Beijing Municipal People’s Procuratorate and Chief Prosecutor Mr. Wang Xuguang of the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Procuratorate.
The PGO delegation comprises Deputy Prosecutor General Uz. Mahmood Saleem, Deputy Prosecutor General Uza. Aishath Mohamed, Director General Aminath Waheeda, Director Media and Public Prosecutor Uz. Ahmed Shafeeu, and Director Events and Public Prosecutor Uza. Sulthona Adam.
The visit will further strengthen the existing relationship between the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and the Prosecutor General’s Office and enhance cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experience between the two institutions.
The Prosecutor General’s official visit to the People’s Republic of China will conclude on 18 September 2026.
